Follow My Steps is designed for youth in high school, typically ages 14–19. Whether you're interested in mentorship, career exploration, or personal development, we have programs that meet you where you are.

If your youth attends a school that partners with Follow My Steps, they may be eligible to join our Thrive Over Surviveprogram. This school-based mentorship initiative runs alongside the academic year and provides mentorship, workshops, and support services.

Yes! We also offer community-based programs that are open to all youth. If your youth’s school isn’t a partner, they can still enroll directly through us. We offer free and discounted options for families in need.

Pioneers are mentors who support youth through weekly check-ins, guidance, and encouragement. Most Pioneers commit1–3 hours per week, meeting with their Explorer (mentee) outside of school hours — either virtually or in-person. Pioneers are also invited to attend Follow My Steps events with their Explorer.

All mentors must complete a CORI background check before getting started.

Yes. Pioneers receive a $100 monthly stipend to recognize the value of their time and mentorship.

Absolutely. All Pioneers go through a structured onboarding process and receive ongoing support from the Follow My Steps team. You’ll get tools, guidance, and communication to help you feel confident in your role.

Yes, but availability is limited. Transportation is offered for select events and programs, and must be requested at least 48 hours in advance. Space is not guaranteed, so early sign-up is encouraged.

Yes. Every Explorer who graduates high school while enrolled in Follow My Steps receives a scholarship to help with college, career training, or post-secondary goals.

Not every event is mandatory, but consistent attendance and punctuality are expected— especially for Thrive Over Survive participants.

Because space in our programs is limited, youth who can’t commit to regular participation may be asked to defer enrollment to allow another youth in need to participate.
