Essay Description & Submission Guidelines
As part of the Young Women Suited for Growth application process, each applicant must submit a written essay responding to one of the prompts listed below. This essay is designed to assess reflection, personal growth, clarity of thought, and future vision.
Applicants should select the prompt that best aligns with their personal experiences and aspirations.
Essay Prompt Selection
Option 1: A Pivot Point
Describe a moment when something did not go as planned. How did it challenge you? What did you learn from the experience? In what ways did it shape or change you moving forward?
This prompt encourages thoughtful reflection on resilience, accountability, and growth. Strong responses will demonstrate maturity, learning, and perspective gained through adversity.
Option 2: Defining Success
What does success truly mean to you — not to social media, not to others — but to you personally? How does your intended career path connect to that vision of success?
This prompt invites applicants to articulate their values, ambitions, and long-term goals. Strong responses will clearly connect personal definition, purpose, and professional aspirations.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to support Young Women Suited for Growth. Funds will provide professional attire assistance, scholarships, mentorship, program materials, and event costs. This ensures every participant has access to a transformative experience focused on confidence, leadership, and career readiness—regardless of financial background.
This event is a unique platform where young women can step into a world of possibilities, unlocking their potential and envisioning a future filled with success and personal growth.
On Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at Bay Path University, we will host approximately 30 high school girls (or High Rising 8th graders) from the Springfield, MA community for a unique experience focused on higher education, career development, and mentorship. This impactful event, titled Young Women's Suited for Growth, will be hosted and co-sponsored by Follow My Steps Foundation and Bay Path University. We will work with our youth and community partners to provide participants with professional attire to help them look and feel their best as they prepare for success.
