Follow My Steps is seeking enthusiastic and community-minded individuals to join our Youth Council as Outreach Members. This is a unique hybrid role that will empower you to support our impactful "Shooting for Success" and "Mentoring Matters 5K" events while developing valuable professional skills.

About Follow My Steps:
Follow My Steps Foundation is committed to empowering under-resourced youth by providing mentorship, career skills, and financial resources that break cycles of inequity and build stronger communities. Our signature Shooting for Successevent combines basketball training with career readiness workshops and scholarships, equipping youth with the tools to thrive on and off the court. Meanwhile, our annual Mentoring Matters 5K raises awareness for youth mentorship and holistic wellness, providing participants with running gear, school supplies, and a platform to support physical and academic success for young people across Western Massachusetts.

Role Overview:

As a Youth Council Outreach Member, you will work closely with our Outreach Director to expand our reach and engage the community in our upcoming events. This hybrid role involves both remote work and active community engagement. You'll be responsible for connecting with potential participants, local teams, schools, and businesses, helping to drive attendance and build vital community partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Community Outreach: Actively engage with individuals, local teams, schools, and businesses in your community to promote "Shooting for Success" and "Mentoring Matters 5K."

• Information Sharing: Distribute flyers, share event details, and articulate the value of our programs.

• Network Activation: Leverage your personal networks (family, friends, clubs, teams) to identify new outreach opportunities.

• Digital Communication: Utilize provided email templates and phone scripts for effective communication.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of outreach activities in a shared Google Sheet.

• Proof of Work: Submit timestamped photos for all in-person community outreach activities.

What We're Looking For:

• Comfortable with Outreach: Are you comfortable reaching out to new people, whether in person, by phone, or via email, to gather interest and participation for events and programs? 

• Extracurricular Engagement: Are you currently a part of any teams, clubs, or other extracurricular activities? If so, please list them. (Preference will be given to candidates with strong extracurricular involvement and connections.)

• Community Experience: Do you have any prior experience in community work, volunteering, or local initiatives? 

• Understanding of Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid. Do you understand and are you comfortable with the expectation that you will be out in your community conducting outreach, in addition to working from home on remote tasks?

• Accountability & Documentation: This role requires consistent and accurate proof of outreach. Do you understand that any misslogged entries or inactivity in your Google Sheet may be terms for termination from this position?

Compensation:

Youth Council Outreach Members will be compensated at $16.25 per hour for approximately 10 hours per week.
